IGNOU AND IEPFA TO EDUCATE YOUTH ABOUT INVESTMENT THROUGH GYAN DARSHAN CHANNEL

IEPFA has entered into an MoU with IGNOU, which aims to educate youth on investment, raise awareness using the tele-lecture facility of Gyan Darshan channel.

Through Gyan Darshan channel, youth across the country will get investor education. The proposed lecture series of 75 special episodes for investor education will be live on Gyan Darshan TV channel. 

These are a part of the year-long celebrations to commemorate the 75th anniversary of India’s independence under the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. 

Earlier in the year 2021 26 episodes of tele-lecture series were started which was praised by all the stakeholders. 

A repository of tele-lectures is available on the official YouTube channel of IEPFA. Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). 

The objective of signing this MoU is to achieve the mandate of investor education, awareness and protection using tele-lecture facility of Gyan Darshan channel.

This association with IGNOU Gyan Darshan channel will help spread the message of investor education and awareness amongst a large set of existing and potential stakeholders. 

The panel of skilled persons for the lecture series will include experts from professional institutions like ICAI, ICSI and senior officials from IEPFA, Ministry of Corporate Affairs and other regulators.

‘Common goal of educating people’

Rajesh Verma, Secretary, Ministry of Corporate Affairs (MCA) and ex-officio President, IEPFA, said that we have come here with a common goal of educating the people. 

The entire country is celebrating the 75th year of the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence to celebrate the spirit of a self-reliant, progressive nation India. 

This day is also celebrated as National Youth Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, a youth icon and influential figure of global stature. With all these great events coming together, today’s event has become even more important and relevant.

The common objective of both IEPFA and IGNOU is to provide education and make people aware about the issues affecting their lives. 

IEPFA aims at creating awareness among all stakeholder groups and especially the youth. IGNOU Vice Chancellor Prof. Nageswara Rao said that IGNOU and IEPFA will reach out to youth and other stakeholders at large with this initiative, which will prove useful in fulfilling the vision and mission of both the organisations.

It is to be noted that the Investor Education and Protection Fund Authority (IEPFA) was set up under Section 125 of the Companies Act 2013 to administer the IEPF Fund in accordance with Section 125(3) of the Companies Act 2013. 

The main objectives of this authority are investor education, awareness and protection, refund of unclaimed shares, dividend and other amounts to the rightful claimants under sections 124 and 125 of the Companies Act 2013. 

IEPFA works under the administrative control of the Ministry of Corporate Affairs.
