However, in the meantime, schools from classes 1 to 5 were to be reopened in Odisha from January 3 ie Monday.
However, in view of the growing havoc of Omicron in the state, the Odisha government has postponed the decision to reopen the schools.
The Odisha government on Sunday said it was withholding its decision to reopen schools for students of classes 1 to 5 from Monday.
This has been done due to the sharp increase in COVID-19 cases.

School and mass education minister SR Das said in a statement that officials visited various primary schools across the state and held discussions with stakeholders. After this the decision was taken.
He also said, “Keeping in view the increase in Corona cases and based on the feedback given by the parents across the state, we have decided not to reopen the schools for the students of classes 1 to 5 from January 3. has decided.”

However, he clarified that classes will still continue for students of classes 6 to 10.
Apart from this, the offline examination, as scheduled earlier, will be conducted following the COVID-19 protocol.
Let us inform that 424 more coronavirus cases were registered in Odisha on Sunday. Of the new patients, 67 patients were under 18 years of age.
In such a situation, the state government does not want to take any kind of risk. This step has been taken for the safety of the children.
