UGC released fake university list: UGC has released the list of 21 fake universities and institutes in India. As per the notice issued, Delhi has the highest number of fake and ‘self-styled’ universities, followed by Uttar Pradesh, details are given below.
UGC releases fake universities List:
The University Grants Commission has released a list of 21 ‘self-appointed, unrecognized institutions’ operating in contravention of the UGC Act, which have been declared as fake universities and are not eligible to grant any degree. does not have the right.
Eight institutions in the national capital have been named in the list of self-styled and unrecognized institutions.
Unrecognized institutions such as All India Institute of Public and Physical Health Sciences, Commercial University Limited, United Nations University, Professional University, ADR-focused Judicial University, Indian Institute of Science and Engineering, Vishwakarma Open University for the Self-Employed, and Spiritual University has been marked.

According to the UGC, Uttar Pradesh has the second highest number of fake universities with 4 such institutions.
The list includes two institutes each from West Bengal and Odisha, one each from Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh.

Section 22 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956, stipulates that the power to confer or confer degrees shall be exercised only by a Central Act, a Provincial Act or a State Act or a University established or incorporated on behalf of an institution which under section 3 or an institution deemed to be a university. Specially empowered by an Act of Parliament to confer or to confer a degree.
According to the Commission, Section 23 of the UGC Act prohibits the use of the word ‘University’ on behalf of an institution other than a University established as stated above.
