UP’s big jump in medical field, 20 percent increase in PG seats in government medical colleges in one year

MBBS Medical seats increase in UP: After increasing 900 MBBS seats by the Medical Education Department, now there is an increase of 20 percent seats in PG in the state.

Uttar Pradesh has made a big leap in the field of medical education in the last five years. Taking a big step to make Uttar Pradesh a hub of medical education, the number of MBBS and PG seats in the government and private sectors of the state is continuously increasing. 

After increasing the 900 MBBS seats by the Medical Education Department, now the PG seats in the state have increased by 20 percent.

Due to which the people here will get quality medical facilities. Alok Kumar, Principal Secretary, Medical Education, said that 518 seats of PG have been increased by combining government and private medical colleges, which has benefited a lot for the medical students.

It is noteworthy that all these big decisions in the field of medicine have been taken by the Yogi government during the Corona period itself. 

If we look at the data, in the year 2020-21, there were 1064 seats of PG in private medical colleges, which has increased to 1382 in 2021-22. 

On the other hand, if we look at government medical colleges, in the year 2020-21, 1027 seats were available in them, due to which their number has increased to 1227.

Overall, this year the seats have increased to 2608 as compared to last year’s 2091 seats i.e. now 518 more new doctors will be able to study PG. Similarly, the government had also decided to enroll 900 new seats in the state for the students waiting to become MBBS doctors.

MBBS will be taught in nine new colleges of the state. There are 100 seats in each college. 

Therefore, this year 900 more seats will be admitted as compared to last year.

Look at UG seats, in the year 2020-21 there were 4150 seats in private medical colleges which has increased to 4500 in 2021-22. On the other hand, if we look at government medical colleges, in the year 2020-21, 2928 seats were available in them, due to which their number has increased to 3828. 

Overall, compared to last year’s 7078 seats, this year’s seats have increased to 8328 i.e. now 1250 more students will be able to take admission for medical studies.

Uttar Pradesh is on its way to become the topper in medical education in the coming times. Health education is being promoted continuously in the state. 

With the opening of new medical colleges, the opportunities for the youth who are dreaming of becoming doctors in the state have been increased in the last five years.
